Crossroads – Hobbs – Roadrunner 345-kV Transmission Line
September 24, 2025
About the Crossroads-Hobbs-Roadrunner Transmission Project
In July of 2024, RETA signed a development and lease agreement with NextEra Energy Transmission Southwest for the Crossroads-Hobbs-Roadrunner transmission line.
This 137-mile 345-kV line delivers lower-cost generation to the region and enhances reliability of the electric grid by interconnecting substations for resiliency in the eastern portion of the state. The project was awarded through an RFP process by Southwest Power Pool, the regional transmission organization in the mid-United States.
The project was placed in commercial operation in April of 2026.
