Empowering New Mexico to Power the West

Transmission Lines

New Mexico’s beauty is unique. It is something that can be seen in the caverns and mountains, but also something that can be experienced in the culture and the weather. The sun and the wind are two particularly beautiful assets in New Mexico because of their ability to be captured and transformed into renewable energy.

Acting as a highway for energy, transmission lines provide the opportunity to share these beautiful resources with residents throughout the state of New Mexico and throughout the region. They provide utility companies, and consumers alike, with the power to utilize more renewable energy in their everyday lives.

Stewardship and Landowner Protection

RETA has the ability to review and provide input on the environmental and fiscal impacts of a project in the State of New Mexico as well as ensure that landowners are being treated equitably and compensated fairly.

Economic Benefit & Prosperity

Rural Jobs

Many of the renewable energy-rich areas in NM are in rural areas that have lost population due to lack of job opportunities. The combination of transmission projects and energy generation provides hundreds of construction jobs and many quality permanent jobs once the projects are operational.

Economic Development

The building of transmission lines enables a path to market renewable energy to in-state customers and regional customers and encourages the development of renewable energy generation in energy-rich areas in New Mexico that would otherwise not be able to reach customers.

Attract Tech Companies to New Mexico

Renewable energy is in demand; high-tech firms such as Facebook, Google & Netflix are requiring that renewable energy be part of the offering for relocation or expansion of their business. Our chances of attracting these companies grows as our renewable energy production grows.
