Study and update confirms opportunity to see $11 billion in private investment.

The study concludes there is enough renewable energy resources for development in New Mexico to meet the Energy Transition Act’s (ETA) requirement of 50% renewable electricity for utilities and rural electric cooperatives by 2030.

Empowering New Mexico
 to Power the West

We are Rich in Wind and Sun

New Mexico boasts some of the world’s strongest, cheapest, and most reliable wind energy, which amounts to a valuable export product for western energy markets.

Neighboring States are Ready to Buy

There is a growing demand for renewable energy across the West. In addition to meeting our statewide goals, New Mexico Renewables are key to meet the clean every targets throughout the region.

We’re Wind Rich But Transmission Line Scarce

New Mexico boasts some of the world’s strongest, cheapest, and most reliable wind energy, which amounts to a valuable export product for western energy markets. However, we must build the transmission network in order to export our energy to buyers.

We Are Building the Energy Transmission Highway

Generated renewable energy must be delivered to the electric utilities, businesses and homes to be used. Therefore, energy transmission is just as important as generating the clean energy itself.

RETA was created by New Mexico lawmakers to facilitate the development of electric transmission and storage projects. The result is that power can be moved across New Mexico and exported out of New Mexico.
